WJ Mouat Hawks vs STM Knights

Fri Nov. 25 at 5:00pm, Burnaby Lakes, Burnaby

The Fanatic spread line:

WJM-10 vs STM+10 O/U 63

Final Score 29-21 for WJM. Not quite the offensive showdown that many had predicted. Simply too much Austin Teer tonight for the Knights. On a night where Chapdelaine had a somewhat off night (a few dropped balls, missed routes, etc..), the Hawks found ways to move the chains and use their other weapons, Rau and Teer. Many teams focus so much on Chapdelaine that they forget that Teer and Rau are 2 of the best players in their positions. Another factor was the disappearance of Denny Dumas. The "gone to play basketball", "back to play football", "gone to play basketball" Receiver/Corner/Quarterback was not dressed and didn't appear to be present. It's difficult to win big games when you're not sure whether your starting Receiver/Corner will be at the game. The score is actually flattering for STM as the Hawks had the game well in hand early in the 4th. The Hawks move onto familar territory to the Subway Bowl next week vs VC, the most anticipated matchup of the season. STM can walk away with heads held high knowing they played hard, got better, but got beat by a better team.

Correction, apparently Dumas was there. His Jersey number was switched around and so the kid that was making all the plays for STM, #20 was Dumas after all... My bad...

A lot of history here between 2 great football franchises. By now, most of you have read the Province article about Carino breaking the 10-0 WJ Mouat team in 2003. Can history repeat itself?? Possibly... The Hawks enter the semi-final game undefeated, 9-0 overall. Carino is in his Senior year, ripping it up.

The Hawks have been dominate in 2005. The offense, best in AAA. The Knights are peaking at exactly the right time and are prime for a big upset here. The winner goes to the Finals, the loser goes home packing, doesn't get any better than this...

WJM Offense: The Hawks are the best offense in 2005. R Chapdelaine cannot be stopped. Holy Cross played bump-and-run and double coverage all night and he still made plays. This allowed QB Teer and RB Rau to make big plays. The Hawk fade is the most difficult to defend.

WJM Defense:They aren't the biggest, quickest group, but they make plays. Need to zero in on Carino and Dumas. Fundamentally sound and don't make many mistakes.

STM Offense: QB Schletgen and R Dumas need to be ready for this game. With the explosive Hawk Offense, the Knights need to match TD for TD. They Knights need to make plays in the air as well as on the ground. Carino will be relied on again to run.

STM Defense:Carino and Dumas will have the unenvious job of covering Chapdelaine. If they play bump-and-run double coverage it will work as Carino and Dumas are much better athletes than what Holy Cross had. If they can slow them down enough, the LBs need to contain Rau. If they do all that, and their offense performs, they Hawks will go down.

stms good run + wjm not being to graet at stoping the run= stm winning it all on the ground.

it'll be to bad too, because wjm has a better chance at beating vc then stm does

I totally agree. When we lost to Mouat we ran the ball all over them, buth ad to start passing and.. well we sucked balls at passing in the game last week. Stm can run the ball very well. I think this is gonna be the best game to watch in long time.

lol u dont make any sense to the person who said wj would have a better chance at beating mouat, when right before that you said they suck at defending the run, Vc has a much better run game then stm.

Id say wj wins this one, Other then carino there Db's really arnt that great, Wj has to much depth and Stm's line isnt amazing either so they wont be able to make great holes for the running backs.

Blogger are You on Crack? The most dominate player on either side of the ball was Denny Dumas. He had to wear a different # jersey because of the shear number of players that STM has on their team. They haven't had those kind of numbers for recent memory. The better team won tonight but if the give away/take away numbers were different it would of been a diifrent game. Now having seen both VC and Mouat play, Congrats VC,on your Subway Bowl Victory

    29-21
The first half was brutal for stm, teer just lit them up. Stm didnt have any success until they went into spread shotgun, I think they put up 3 tds in 4 minutes. Mouat was still passing in the 4th "when they had the game." Also, Number 1 that everyone is ragging on for jumping over the line. He had a purpose, on the first kneel down teer danced around for a bit. He was just hoping for a fumble. Rau and teer played extremely well. Chapdelaine did not play his best game. The game came down to the last onside kick, which is how every game should finish.
congrats mouat, have fun with college

hahaah stm are poor sports. good luck mouat should be a great subway bowl, going to a school that got beatby wj i cant believe all the excuses coming from stmc. i admitted we werent ever in the game vs mouat and i watched last nites game. stm never stood a chance. you guys had all the breaks too, chapdelaine played really bad last night and you guys scored 2 late tds to win. agreed with blog, score flattered you guys way too much, good luck hawks , i think they got a real shot at vc. stm was just lucky mouat stopped passing on them so early in the game, why is coach kelly so nice to kc steele? must be buddies.
