Timberline Wolves vs WJ Mouat Hawks

Fri, Sep. 23 at 2:30P, Rotary Stadium Abbotsford

The Fanatic spread line:

Timberline+14 at WJM-14 O/U 49

Final Score 40-0 for WJM. Game of the week was not even close. Either WJM is THAT good or Timberline is way overated. I say a little of both. WJM is peaking at just the right time, I don't think anybody will touch them in league play, should go easily to semis. Timberline is not anywhere near the level of VC, will be battling it out with West Van, Notre Dame, and Handsworth for a playoff spot. Slightly better than those teams right now, but a loss would mean they will drop.

Battle of the only undefeated top 5 teams so far with #4 ranked Timberline brings their game to face #2 ranked WJ Mouat. Timberline has defeated far weaker opponents so far in Mt Doug, Vanier, and Cowichan. Time to find out if the Wolves are more contender or pretender. WJM has looked formidable so far. With QB Austin Teer back in the groove, the Hawks look to revive the 2005 version of the Abbotsford air show. A big win for WJM here could have them flirting for the #1 ranking. If the Wolves can grind out a low scoring game, they will have a chance to win. If they get into a basketball style game trading TDs, WJM will end up with more. Should be a great game in the Valley.

Timberline Offense: The Wolves have improved their weakest part of their game, the passing attack. QB Joe Down has looked solid so far (against weaker opponents though). Bad penalities in the Vanier game prevented the Wolves from blowing that game out. Cowichan game was a gimme for the offense. QB Joe Down and FB Dayton Prior leading the way.

Mouat Defense: Much aligned last year, vastly improved this year. Play fundamentally sound defense, don't give up big plays. Has been great at stuffing the run, pass coverage has been decent as well. LBs Cherry Brar and two-way player Bobby Rau lead the way in tackling.

Mouat Offense: Best in AAA. RB Bobby Rau on the ground, QB Austin Teer and R Matt Chapdelaine. Very good supporting players and a solid O-line that executes. Defenses will be stretched vertically with the Chapdelaine threat, that's when they pound it right down the middle with big back Bobby Rau.

Timberline Defense: Held opponents to 26 points in 3 games. Solid core lead by Texas import Dayton Prior. He's been an absolute monster throwing kids around like rag dolls. Wolves defense needs to get good penetration to get at Hawks QB Teer and force him to throw under pressure.
