Centennial Centaurs vs Salmon Arm Golds

Sat Nov. 20 at 6:30pm, Mercer Stadium

The Fanatic spread line:

Cent-14 vs SA+14 O/U 49

Final Score 27-6 for Centennial. Was 12-0 at the half. Centennial simply had too much speed for Salmon Arm. The dense fog kept both teams at bay, but the Centaurs used it to their advantage by running North/South and using their speed. QB Quincy Hurst had the best game on both sides, scoring TDs on offense and picking of passes everywhere on the field. The Golds could not run the ball all night, the Centaur defense was too fast. So they went vertical instead. Problem was that the receivers couldn't see the ball, couldn't see 5 yds in front of you. As mentioned Hurst picked off at least 3, Miko had one as well. I would've liked to see this game replayed without the fog, but oh well, what's done is done. Centennial goes on to face VC in the semis.

Big story of course is the upset win by Salmon Arm over Notre Dame but anyone following the Golds isn't surprised that they won. The big question for the Golds going into this game vs Centennial is which team will show up. The team that dominated Notre Dame, and Mt Boucherie twice, or the team that was beaten badly by South Kam. The Centaurs have had similar lapses througout the season that saw them slip from #1 to start the season to #4 entering the playoffs. If both teams come out to play, should make for a down to the wire nailbiter.

Centennial Offense: The exploits of Denton, Hurst, Anderson, and Miko are well documented. The speed, undeniable. Mistakes and turnovers, however, have plagued the team and could very well cost them the glory they seek. If the Centaurs play mistake free, they should roll easily here.

Salmon Arm Defense: The Golds Defense will be tested to the limit here vs Cent. The Golds will need Jensen, Verbeeten, and Blair to be at their best to contain the speedy Centaur backs and prevent the big play.

Salmon Arm Offense: The Golds have been a balanced team all year with Kyle Armstrong leading the team in TDs scored. The versatile Armstrong has as many yards receiving as running. The key for Salmon Arm will be to attack the Centennial secondary which will open up the field and spread the defense.

Centennial Defense: The Centaurs have been as strong in the box as any team in AAA with LB Bruce Anderson chewing up RBs run after run. It's been in their secondary where they have struggled, which was evident even in their blowout win over Handsworth. Hurst and Miko have speed but lack height, where an over the shoulder throw is basically gone for a TD. Will need to defend Armstrong in double coverage to prevent any deep catches.

Is this the same Salmon Arm team that lost to Oroville? I believe Double A , Sands beat Oroville quite convincingly! Centennial will win this one pretty easily ie. 30+ points.

i don't know...i watched the Cent Vs. Handsworth game...35-6 in the first half...if Cent keeps playing how it is this shouldn't be closer than 2 TD's...but watching the salmon arm game they had a very profficient passing game and this seems to be the only real struggle of centennial, aside from the relentless pass rush of their big DE ...i think he wore #45..dustyn harvey made some big catches that i'm not sure the salmon arm kids can make, but we'll see this weekend

I guess this is an example of sometimes cheaters do prosper. Don't know how the Centennials, Sands, and other immortal cheaters feel good about their sudden successes when they have to cheat to be succesful. It's the win at any cost mentality that really makes me wonder?? Do the cheater parents, players, supporters, coaches really feel good about their wins even if they cheat to bring the kids in from all over the place and lie about their addresses etc. Shame..Shame

SOMEBODY's bitter about losing...yes, refer to a team that's been investigated time and time again and every time has come out just fine as "cheaters"...just because you lost does not mean you have a right to slag a team that's still playing...or one that isn't...let me guess...the refs were brought in and paid off to right?

actually the refs were against centennial.

    Your a fukin whiner buddy...

seriously u know almsot every single team in every sport has had a player come from sumwhere else.. but the team that wins gets called cheaters or what not..such as Sands and Centennial

its should be the players or parents choice wether to send sumone to a different school..

going to a better team or program gives the player a better chance to play at the next level..

All The Private schools have players from everywhere..what do u think that the football kids go their for school some yes.. but they go for football juss as kids who play basketball go to St. Georges to increase their chance to play at the next level..

SHUT UP AND PLAY.. and if ur a fan juss SHUT UP AND WATCH KIDS PLAY THEIR HEART OUT..if a parent SHUT UP N CHEER ON UR SON.. and if ur a coach SHUT UP N TRAIN UR BOYS HARDER

So you're admitting that your school cheats but explain it away by saying parents and kids should have the right to choose where they want to go regardless of the BCSS rules. There are rules in place to try to level the playing field and stop recruiting. You are also saying that you feel that the private schools cheat so it's O.K. for your school to ignore the rules and then lie about it. Questionable ethics?? I think so. The rules should be enforced for all schools including (if not especially the private schools) For instance if you live in Surrey and want to go to a Catholic school for the catholic education etc. then they should go to Holy Cross...what shouldn't be allowed and what happens is that people will drive right by Cross and take their Boys to More in Burnaby? Why? Well because they believe it has a better team..The rules exist now that say this shouldn't be happening but it is..so I see your point about the Catholic schools but 2 wrongs don't make a right. No one should be faking addresses etc. and families should not be allowed to drop their daughters off at Holy Cross and take their boys To Thomas More. Rules exist if people don't like the rules they should try and change the rules not cheat, lie and then swear ato others who point out the abuse. What's the point of winning anything if its not legit? Why work hard with the kids who should be attending your school and see how you do rather than bringing in others from all over to in essence"buy" some wins?

The fact that as you mentioned certain programs have been "investigated..time and time again" doesn't make you wonder? Where there is smoke there is usually fire..right? Hiding at Mundy park, practicing during the strike, bringing in players from Cloverdale (Jutreas the QB couple of years ago) and that big kid from Surrey this year..are just examples. Someone had to tell those public school teams who kept practicing to take their equipment home in anticipation of practicing when teams were asked to stand down right? Hiding behind "they were personal training sessions not practices" etc. etc. Just adds to the disrespect and insults of the lies. An above blogger says just "play your heart out etc." that's all well and good but think about how dishearting it must be to those who are trying to do the right thing when they see the blatant abuse. You admit it yourself when you say the rules are wrong etc. Rules are rules..Cheaters are cheaters..they are not supposed to prosper but so far that is just not the case the cheaters are prospering..That's my point.

Have you scheduled your appointment at the mental health clinic yet? Cause you are in great need.

It's easier to attack another...questioning their mental capacity than to look in the mirror and admit that what you are a party to is dead wrong..unethical in so many ways. I hope you are proud of your school and yourself.

I Know What You Mean Yes Players have come from cloverdale for instance Jutras the QB.. what did that do for him..?

well now hes playing down south..

i agree with you cheaters are cheaters but i dont like to go after them right now its the semi finals .. if you think bout its cheaters vs cheaters i guess.. VC vs CENT.. WJM vs STM.. its been happening for a long time now.. it wont stop people will always find a way do transfer ..

by the way i do not play for Centennial

also they avoided the rule it was considered gridiron i believe thats why they could practice without gettin in any trouble ..

may i ask who do u play football for?

I Play basketball and i have played versus teams who have had transfers .. example Argyle we all know the big 3 came from Sutherland .. It happens it always has been happening

by the way i didnt make that mental comment

You seem a little more thoughtful than the individual who can't argue logically. I play @ Holy Cross and really can't stand the fact that kids drive right by our place to go to STM. It's just not right. They are cheating. We have to take kids from the various parishes that support our school. We can't take non-catholics unless there is room..which there isn't but More and College get kids from all over regardless of where they live. I've got nothing against Catholic schools..( since I go to one obviously) but I just wish coaches/parents/athletes/programs would operate by the rules. Historically some of the Catholic schools have been the worse offenders but lately some others like Centennial and Sands (obvious ones this year) have just gone crazy. I guess some people have no conscience!

stm and van college have a parish boundry so anyone who is catholic is able to go to school at stm or van college regardless of where they live. (as long as your catholic)
