Centennial Centuars vs Windsor Dukes

Fri, Oct. 28 at TBA, TBA

The Fanatic spread line:

Cent-10 at Windsor+10 O/U 42

Final Score 28-21 for Windsor. Can't say I'm entirely surprised here. The Dukes have all that it takes to be a top team in AAA, they are blessed with tons of speed. Didn't watch the game, but I bet the difference in the game was the O and D lines, Windsor is quick and powerful on both O and D lines. Centennial will need to improve their line play or they will not reach the Dome.

Not sure if the Central cancellation will affect the Centaurs ranking with the "selection committee" but one thing is for sure, this will be a much more competitive and exciting football game to watch. The Dukes may play in AA, but their talent and experience are superior than most AAA teams. I expect to see a lot of back and forth TD's scored with Centennial just edging out their opponents in the 4th.

Why would a coach cancel this game? and deprive his own team of playing their game? I think that the rumors of why this coach would cancel should be put to rest and the season is given back the the student athletes... the politics should stop... and Burnaby Central should be allowed to play.....and the their coaching staff should stop the politics...

Maybe if you guys hadn't been scabs and refrained from practising like everyone else, they would have played.

definitly true, even thought if cent had sat around for 2 weeks eating ships and central practiced for 2 weeks cent would still win in a blow out, but i guess its not about that.

every team could have gotten together just like cent without a coach and kept together as a team. cent never did any conditioning or hitting. they just got together on themselves.

cent got together by themselves...ask some of the players that came out from other programs 2 participate with them (no names mentioned)...just like i'm sure other teams did bcuz they love football...the Bby Central staff is going to take ANOTHER precious game from the Senior players on that team? shame on them

The spread should be a half point, Cent. matches Windsor in every catagory but Deep threat, Cent has no deep threat

The team that cancelled the game should find new coaches. This is the absolutely bogus. The parents should get rid of the coaches right away.

Good for the team that practiced during the strike to. It is awesome that you guys did not let a teachers strike effect you playing football. The Coaches of other teams should be ashamed that they tried taking football away, I commend all teams that continued to practice throughout!

The parents have no say and should have no say in who the coaches are. It is up to the discretion of the school who coaches the team or not. One of the best things about high school football is that the parents can't get involved in the politics of it all unlike community. If the parents are allowed to pick and choose coaches, then it would be a sad day.

It is unfortunate that you believe that. You see, Parents are voters, schools are run by school boards, school boards are voted in by parents. Parents have a lot of pull in what goes on at a school if you see what I mean now. Parents need to file a complain at the school level first, and at the school board level secondly.

This is such poor sportsmanship by the team that cancelled. #1 the coaches shouldnt be making these decisions, Its the kids that play the games and Im willing to bet the Central players would have voted to play. The teams that practiced during the strike didn't practice to get an advantage over other teams, they practiced because they just wanted to play ball. The teachers said they were doing the strike to help the students, so how is being pissed off because people practiced football "Helping the Students". The coaches have taken away the kids chance to play football, and that is unfortunate, what is worse is the Coaches have acted in such a juvenile manner that I don't believe they should be trusted to make decisions regarding a group of kids in the future.

Hats off to Centennial for ignoring the political mess that BCHSF fell into. The bottom line is, these players were doing something productive with their days and their health, while most others were staying up all night and sleeping in. The kids were the victims here. Teaching them to make the best of a difficult situation is a great life lesson. (And lets not even go there with the "against the rules" routine...if you know what I mean).

This coaching staff has more issues than just cancelling this game.

I am a voter too, does that mean that I can decide who coaches what school team? Your reasoning is dumb.

  • At 9:51 AM, October 27, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

My reasoning is Dumb ? My reasoning for parents going to the school board and the school is because these coaches are not fulfilling a commitment they made. They made a commitment to coach these young men for a season of football. They have decided that their political agenda is more important then that. They should not be allowed to coach, and parents, students and anyone else should make sure they are not allowed next year.

And yes, if you are a voter, you most certainly do get a say in everything that goes on in the schools. Go to a school board meeting and voice your opinion, get other like minded people to voice theres as well. If enough of you voice your opinion, your opinion will be heard. School Boards are elected officials held responisble by there constituant.

There is no dumb reasoning there, just fact!

i go 2 central and i think the coaching is fine, everyone makes wierd decisions sometimes, u cant just judge someone over one decision, we are still playin stm next week, and wut i think the real concern was that we werent playin for 2 weeks, and injuries were a factor

  • At 1:05 PM, October 27, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

The other things the parents can do are:
    -Demand their money back
-Push for the resignation of the coaches involved
-Boycott the program next year unless there are major coaching changes(let their kids play community instead)

if anyone has read the now or the vancouver sun (i forget) it say centrals coach say "i wasn't going to go into the game having my players life at stake." at what stake! its football. they all wear padding, how is your life at stake? by doing this you are just hurting burnaby centrals image as a football team. every football team will think central is a joke. oh, we cant play vc cent or mouat because we are going to get killed, so lets forfeit and make up a different excuse to every newspaper. if you have not noticed, every newspaper has a different reason and quotes from central. get your story straight.
    (1. coaches werent going to let the players life at risk, 2. centennial was in the newspaper picketing against the teachers strike while central wasnt so we wont play them, 3. they were practacing, 4.they have ineligable players that should not be there (which could not be proven through 4 investingations)) also centrals coach, cancels the junior game and changed it to the senior game time and refs once they found out centennial would play windsor. (that stepped up to ake on a challege, that they can win) i say congrats to windsor and shame on central.

man all u haters.....shut up, if it wasnt for stockman, there wouldnt be football at central, hes a good coach, and like i sed b4, people make mistakes, no1 fuckin critisizes u pplz about it, then y should u critisize people about their mistakes??? stockman knows our team the best, u guys dont know shit all, u guys dont know whos injured, u guys dont know whos skippin out and gettin benched, u guys dont know SHIT, im realli pissed off about all this cuz wutever goes on at central, fuckin stays at central, i can remember a time when centennial wasnt that great either, we didnt critisize them, we had respect for whatever they chose to do, so juss shut up and show a lil respect...FUCK

take it easy buddy, i have NO respect for backing out of a football game, i think that is a complete and total load of shit. i think its becoming very clear why central is a bad team and has been a bad team for a number of years. if i was a player on the central team i would be thinking of transferring to moscrop, stm or new west becuase the central project is a freaking JOKE

This game was won and lost in the trenches and the backs ability to hold onto the ball

  • At 8:37 AM, October 29, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

you can bet that cent will want to dismantle fox after losing a closly contested match last nigh that they couldve and shouldve won but didnt no excuses. fumbled ball twice and lost it within the 5 yard line. missed field goal. all in all id say the whole game was the o-line for both cent and windsor. cents defence needs alot of work they kept running up the gut getting 5-10 yards a carry. sometimes 40

  • At 9:44 AM, October 29, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Like I stated earlier, Centennial had no deep threat allowing windsor to bring 10 in the box. Cent had a few mistakes in there pass coverage that made for huge plays 2 of which were td's

  • At 9:56 AM, October 29, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

after watching that game...Cent's O-Line played fairly well...and Cent did put up 21 points...it's the D that really needs work...and some untimely turnovers were at fault for cent losing this one...those fumbles killed them, on the note of the last post cent does have a deep threat in AJ Miko but nobody really wants to pass in the kind of weather that was experienced last night

  • At 2:29 PM, October 29, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

centennials offence i think is fine. they put up 21 points and they couldve put up 38 (2 fumbles at the 3 yard line and a missed field goal that hit the upright) their defence on the other hand like the other comment says need a lot of work. i think they might have to change up all the positions up on defence. but the offence is fine for centennial. good push from o-line too. windsor was just usuing speed to their advantage on offence and that is why they won. windsors defence wasnt as good as i thought but they make the most on turnover oppertunitiies. congrats to windsor.
