Ballenas Whalers vs Mt. Doug Rams
Thu Nov. 17 at 3:00pm, Mercer Stadium
The Fanatic spread line:
Ballenas+10 vs MtD-10 O/U 49
Final Score 34-27 for Mt Doug. Watched the first half and it was 20-13 for Mt Doug. Andrushko played a hell of a game, but the Rams did what they needed to slow him enough for their offense to win it for them. Whalers suffered from a weak secondary all season and man did the Rams expose them again today. Will wait for the stats but QB Alek Smith had a big game. The Rams get some much needed rest after a close one here and get set to play what should be Windsor next weekend.
Battle of the 2 of the 3 dominate Island teams in AA. Offense is the name of the game for both teams scoring at will. The Whalers have hit 30 or more points 8 or 10 games this season, the Rams have been just as good. The difference between the 2 teams is the Rams defense which has been slightly better.
Ballenas Offense: You can't talk about the Whalers without mentioning the name Andrushko. The Outstanding RB may not be the "best" RB but he means more to this team than any other player in AA and so technically that means he should be MVP of AA. The O-line does a good job of supporting Andrushko and the team really rallies around him. I don't think you stop Andrushko, you can only slow him down, not even Francis Parker from San Diego could stop Andrushko.
Mt Doug Defense: The Rams defense stepped up big time against Frank Hurt in the wildcard round preventing the Hornets from scoring in the redzone on numerous occasions. They are a physical relentless group that attack and attack wearing out the opponents offense. The defense is led by lead tackler LB Dan Currey and DT Jon Hitchen.
Mt Doug Offense: A balanced attack on the ground and in the air has kept opposing defenses on their heels. The Rams feature a number of backs including Abu-Febiri, MacDonald, and Mohamed. In the air, QB Alek Smith and R Brendan Neary have been effective in complimenting the run.
Ballenas Defense: The Whalers defense has been good enough to allow Andrushko and the offense to pick up wins for them, but if the Whalers want to win this game, they need their defense to step up big time. The Whalers have had good coverage in the box for the most part, it's been in the secondary where they've struggled. Their secondary woes are well documented, as Sentinel torched them for 32 in Week 3.

Mount Doug will win this one by 20+ points. Andrusko will get his 150+ yards, however in the end too much depth for Mount Doug.

I heard that Andrushko is sick this week so I would give this one to Mt. Doug. I mean, how could any back perform well with the flu?
Rams by 15+

Bates had the flu against Pinetree and still ran for 250+ yards. Sick isn't a good excuse

mt doug has no chance here..yes they were overlooked all year and they are a good team..but even if they do manage to get by windsor..they will have LT or sands to play in the final.
