Frank Hurt Hornets vs Mount Douglas Rams

Sat, Sep. 24 at 3:00P, Mt. Douglas Victoria

The Fanatic spread line:

FH+10 at MtD-10 O/U 28

Final Score 37-7 for MtD. Wasn't a close game. Now that FH is out of the way Mt Doug is now looking forward to wins over Mission, and Vanier on route to a #1 seed showdown vs LT. FH goes back to the drawing board, needs wins over Mission and Vanier to stay in playoff contention.

One of 3 big regular season matchups in the Georgia Strait Conference as both #7 ranked Frank Hurt and #4 ranked Mount Douglas are 1-0 in the regular season so far. First big test for Hurt as they've looked unimpressive in 3 wins over weaker opponents, a win here and a playoff berth is almost certain. Mount Douglas looking to flex their muscle here against a conference rival. With the Rams no longer the favorite to win the conference as Lord Tweedsmuir has outshined the Rams so far in the preseason, the Rams need to win here to maintain at least a #2 spot in the conference. With a lot on the line, should be a close game, expect both teams to play conservatively. In close games, it's always the mistakes and turnovers that end up costing the game, same will be true here.

Hurt Offense: Hasn't been blowing away any teams this year, but use a steady ground game led by the dependable RB Sheldon Dosanjh. The passing game has been suprisingly successful, QB Brent Knull has 6 TDs in 3 games but 3 INTs as well. Hurt has decent size on the O-line adding several standout rookies from the JV team. With the offense that the Hornets have, they should be scoring more points.

Mt Doug Defense: The Rams are a big tough defensive unit with decent team speed. Nose Tackle Jon Hitchen and LB Dan Curry lead the defense and will look to nullify any Hurt ground attack. The defense has allowed a stingy 16 points scored in 3 games including 1 shutout.

Mt Doug Offense: The Rams have been much more successful with the run so far than the pass. The Rams have several good ball-carriers and share the ball quite well. RBs Sam Adu-Febiri, Paul Barazzuol, and Conor MacDonald are the leading rushers. The 61 point outburst by the Rams over Cowichan shows they are capable of putting up big yds.

Hurt Defense: Known for hitting hard. Has done a good job keeping opponents from scoring. LB Amrit Dhaliwal has been the most consistent tackler along with two-way player DE Brett Knull. Need them to step up and stuff the balanced running game of the Rams.
