Windsor Dukes vs Clarence Fulton Maroons

Update Fri Nov. 18 at 3:00pm, Burnaby Lakes

The Fanatic spread line:

Windsor-21 vs Fulton+21 O/U 42

Final Score 40-0 for Windsor. What can I say, Windsor is the cream of the crop in AA. As a poster reported below, Gabe is fine, everything still rolling for the Dukes. The Maroons end another season unable to make the jump to the elite. Wonder if the date change with having Provincial exams messed up their psyche a little. Anyways, Maroons graduate a lot of their talent, so next year will be a toss up. Windsor meets Mt Doug in semis. In any other year, the Rams could win it all with the team they have, but the Dukes will be too much for them this year.

Things start to get tougher for the Dukes as they face #1 from the Interior Fulton in the Quarters. The Dukes are undefeated so far and are widely expected to stay that way throughout the playoffs, however, it gets tougher and tougher each week. The Maroons have had a very successful season so far culminating in their win over Vanier in the Wildcard round. Both teams are very talented with the Dukes having the edge in team speed. That speed will make the difference on both sides of the ball.

Windsor Offense: The best O-line in AA has been a blessing for RB Ephard to run behind. They are probably the fastest O-line that I have seen play period in AA or AAA. With the combined speed of the line and Ephard, the offense has simply been on a roll since Week 1. With the exception of 1 half vs Sands, the Dukes have been unstoppable. The air attack has worked well. They don't go for long fades, but rather quick slants in and once again use their speed to get massive YAC.

Fulton Defense: The Maroon defense is led by outstanding 2-way player James Rogers. The D-line has been good against inferior opponents but will be tested in a big way vs Windsor. The LB and CB need to find a way to stop Ephard from running around the ends or it will be a long night.

Fulton Offense: Although backs Levi Brodland and James Rogers have had an outstanding season so far, the Maroons fate lie in the abilities of QB Jesse Brown and the receiving core to make plays downfield. They key for the Maroon offense will be the O-line giving Brown enough time to throw and make plays.

Windsor Defense: Speed kills and the Dukes have plenty of speed all-around. The D-line is probably quicker than the O-line and they don't give up big plays. Ephard plays CB/S and can catch up to anyone.

All This talk about sands being the best defense in AA. Windsor has allowed 59 points agiansted and the only teams to score multiple Td's againsted them were 2 playoff contending AAA teams

well sands has been the only team to shut down windsor's offense
    it's the benefit of doubt
sure windsor has a good defense but the reason sands didn't score more was because of their own o-line not pulling through, as well as they were missing their starting qb
windsor is up there i'd say is 2nd best, barsby just doens't compared with these 2 teams or lt

After seeing all of Windsors games, including 3 wins over AAA schools,I am confident that Windsor is capable of retaining their provincial title, afterall they have won the last 20 games they played. Its all in their coaching and their determination to succeed. Best of luck to everyone though!

I have to agree, this is Windsor' year! Sands definitely gave Windsor the best Double A game in the past 2 years!

did windsor trail in that game at all? or were they held pointless for a half?
the factor of sands being a new program also counts for something, that something being not enough highschool experience but nonetheless it was a battle for the first half, sands just fell apart the second half on mental mistakes etc which led to their demise

Going to pick Fulton in the biggest upset of the year...Ephard is banged up and Windsor will have to go to the pass and play their number 2 guy at running back using every spread formation, screen and slot counter under the sun to do it. Scenario B) with the current Duke backfield situation is to go with their strength which is offensive line and run I double tight/house and pound at the Maroons while keeping the score very low with a very good Duke Defense. Schuman's special teams work will be all that and a box of crackers and this could be the difference maker if an upset is to be avoided.

    Good luck to both squads!

I think the Dukes back up RB is just as good as Gabe... they will probably win this one by giving him the ball

I don't think that Windsor's backup is quite as good as Gabe Ephard, but I still think Windsor can still win this game (and maybe the AA championship) without him. Windsor is very well coached and they just come out and execute. While they have a few trick plays if needed, they do not rely on "gimmick" plays and formations.

While relying on "gimmick" plays and formations will rack up big numbers against weak teams, the better teams that are well-coached will shut them down.

    Two things:

    1) Gabe played, played well, isn't injured
    2) 40-0 Windsor

    Good Night

Even the Jr. Windsor Dukes are in the semifinals. You can't stop Windsor, they're outcoached and outskilled, everyone of them. They are all athletes and they know how to play football. Mt. Doug doesn't stand a chance. No competition whatsoever.Windsor is coming to the finals again, they will take the championship for 2005, just like 2004.
