2006 AAA Okanagan Conference Preview

Projected Finish

1. South Kamloops Titans
2. Mt Boucherie Bears
3. Salmon Arm Golds
4. Kelowna Owls
5. Fulton Maroons
6. Rutland Voodoo

Updated. Fulton has moved up to AAA. It's really tough to say how they will do but for now I've ranked them 5th behind Kelowna. They do have a solid program in place and the stability in coaching that has proven to be successful year over year. They could surprise some next season.

The South Kamloops Titans should return to prominence after a blimp in 2005. The Titans return some decent talent and bring up a solid JV group.

The Okanagan Conference should be much stronger in 2006 as all 5 teams bring back a lot of talent. Mt Boucherie should be the second best team behind South Kam. Salmon Arm, the suprise team in 2005 should be solid as well. Kelowna and Rutland will also improve this year making the Okanagan very competitive in AAA.

I read on the bchighschoolfootball site that Fulton is now "AAA". If that is true, where do they fit in? Last time they were in the same league as the "AAA" schools they won it.

Considering Seaquam beat KSS last year, how can you rank Fultan behind KSS?

KSS had about 10 starters out for the seaquam game, including 2 QB's

kss also made the playoffs last year when they were sup[posed to be bad, and fulton is just moving up from aa so i would say its hard to rank them

before all the AAA teams in the interior moved up Fulton still wooped their butts its a coaching thing, and the coaching at the AAA schools as only gotten better since they were in AA

Fulton will never be lower than top three and is the best bet to win their division every year from here on out. They whipped on the guys who moved up before and they will again. Scheller can coach it up and he is A #1 in that division.

Get used to picking grass out of your helmets and eating Maroon Dust.

Oh yeah, I am not from Fulton either.

South Kam surprise? The only surprise would be if they lose a conference game. Once again they’re the most physically dominate team in the conference. The only thing holding back the team - provincially - is a lack of discipline and mental toughness – when the going gets tough, the Titans look for the exit! Once the mental toughness comes around, they will dominate at the provincial level as well. That might be awhile though. Fulton will be 2 because of the opposite reasons. Great coaching, especially Schuller. Mentally tough, willingness to give it their all, disciplined. Weakness – top to bottom talent – there’s a lack of physical talent beyond the top few athletes. Salmon Arm will be 3 – a rebuilding year. Talent will come around and they will be a team before it is said and done. Kelowna - what teams? A battle for last place by the 3 non-teams. I don’t know what’s wrong with the Kelowna schools but they just don’t “get” football.

i have no problem with your comment on how Kelowna teams don't "get" football but i am just wondering how exactly you justify that opinion while although a lesser league, OKM(from Kelowna) is suposed to finnish #1 in AA

the only problems i know with Kelowna is mentally never being there for either games or practice(at least wat ive been told by some KSS and RSS players).. give it time and football will come back big here

That's what I meant by "they don't just get" football - the Kelowna teams seem to have no idea of the mental part of the game. The physical talent is there; the fans are there - where are the teams? I was just referring to the AAA teams - OKM is different. Their coach seems to have installed the right attitude into the team - and maybe the school [hard to say, I don't know much about the program].

And I should add I played community ball in Kelowna - I just wish the AAA high school teams would do better.

okm will be good because 3 teams in that division are absolutley terrible!!! come on any team is and will beat Kalamaka, Seaton, and Vernon, if they even field teams this year, i think itll be westsydes division to win, and i dont even livein the okanagan i live on the coast so dont even try to say i say that because im with westsyde

Wrong section - Westsyde is in "AA" not "AAA"

Mid season update [if anyone is still following this]:
    1. South Kam - Fulton surprised them. Will still win conference. Only real "AAA" team in the conference.
    2. Rutland - good start but will run into South Kam juggernaut.Blow out win [the blow out-not the win]against Fulton a surpise but Fulton was missing 1/3 of their team for the game.
    3. Fulton - "AA" team could finish second [would need some help to do so]. Could be considered a surprise or it just proves that this is really a "AA" division. Too bad 10 players missed the Rutland game or could have had shot at #2.
    4. Kelowna - shows some promise but loss to SKSS showed the weaknesses. Upset win over Rutland could allow them to finish 2nd but 4th most likely.
    5. Mt. Boucherie - disappointg start - thought they would be challenging for first. Could make a run for second if they get it together for late season run.
    6. Salmon Arm - waiting for next year.
