New West Hyacks vs West Vancouver Highlanders

Final Score 24-13 for West Van. In what has to be an extremely disappointing finish for the Coach Lalji and the Hyacks, Coach Conn comes up with the lone upset of the first day of the playoffs (well not really a major upset as I actually ranked WV #7 behind NW at #6). Eker is already getting lots of talk, this could put him on the map for several top CIS schools and NCAA. For the Highlanders, they look forward to a meeting with either top ranked STM or a Timberline team that they've already beaten. For the Hyacks, a season full of promise ends prematurely. The team will lose All-Stars QB Ben Davies and R Marc Moore, although a fresh group of JVs should mean a solid campaign next year.


2 great offenses go head to head in the first round. Coach Lalji goes up against former assistant Coach Conn. The Hyacks are lead by top passer QB Ben Davies, MVP candidate Marc Moore and troop of young RBs. The Hyacks are talent-wise, one of the best in AAA, but inexperience has led to turnovers and mental mistakes. For the Highlanders, they have surpassed most people's expectations of where they would end up. MVP candidate Jesse Eker has been the best 2 way player in the province, excelling on defense and offense. If the games gets close, I actually favor the Highlanders. The key will be whether the Hyacks can get an early lead and play the clock the rest of the way.
