Week 9 AA Power Rankings

Last updated Oct 30, 2005 Week 9

Not much movement in AA this week. Most top teams won, and most bottom teams lost. Valleyview beat Westsyde so they move up a little. Next week, there will be some major shakeups as teams prepare for playoffs.

1. (1) Windsor Dukes (3-0) Exhibition (3-0)
- Impressive win over AAA #3 Cent. Nobody can catch them, should stay undefeated throughout.

2. (2) Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers (3-0) Exhibition (3-0)
- Had to tough one out vs Vanier. Hurt matchup will be another tough one. At least the Panthers will be battle tested come playoff time.

3. (3) Sands Scorpions (4-0) Exhibition (3-1)
- Seaquam win was good. Defense is solid, but Offense needs to improve. Aldergrove is hardly a test next week.

4. (4) Mt. Douglas Rams (4-0) Exhibition (1-1)
- Takin' care of business by beating Mission. Cruises into playoffs with N Surrey up next week.

5. (5) John Barsby Bulldogs (2-0) Exhibition (2-2)
- Cakewalk over Aldergrove, tough matchup vs Boyd next week, playoff seeding at stake. Bates having a fantastic season.

6. (6) Ballenas Whalers (4-0) Exhibition (0-2)
- May still see an Andrusko/Gabe matchup in the playoffs. In the meantime, took care of Howe Sound, exhibition vs Vanier is up next.

7. (7) Hugh Boyd Trojans (2-0) Exhibition (1-3)
- Naniamo win was warmup to Barsby showdown next week. A win could give the Trojans a top 4 seeding for playoffs.

8. (8) Mission Roadrunners (2-1) Exhibition (2-0)
- Lost their mojo with lost to Mt Doug, still should be considered a top 8 team though.

9. (9) Clarence Fulton Maroons (4-0) Exhibition (0-2)
- Won a close one over tough OKM. Looking to get sharper vs Westsyde next week. Tough choice for "selection committee" on whether to seed Fulton top 8.

10. (10) G.P. Vanier Towhees (1-3) Exhibition (1-1)
- Didn't beat LT, but hung in there. 23 pts against and 13 for is pretty respectable. Exhibition game vs Ballenas up next, need a good showing for the "selection committee".

11. (11) Okanagan Mission Huskies (2-2) Exhibition (1-2)
- Played well in loss to Fulton. Big grudge match vs Valleyview next week. The Huskies are a dangerous team to face heading into playoffs.

12. (12) Frank Hurt Hornets (1-1) Exhibition (2-0)
- Isfield win comes in time to prepare for LT showdown next week. A good showing and could move up in seeding.

13. (14) Sentinel Spartans (2-1) Exhibition (1-1)
- Gulf Islands win was a walk in the park, Windsor will be anything but next week. Going to the playoffs, but will face a tough first round opponent.

14. (15) Valleyview Vikings (1-3) Exhibition (0-2)
- A loss next week to OKM and it would be hard for the "selection committee" to justify a playoff spot for the Vikings.

15. (13) Westsyde Blue Wave (1-3) Exhibition (0-0)
- Disappointing loss to Valleyview, an upset win over Fulton next week would be huge for playoff seeding and confidence.

16. (16) Moscrop Panthers (1-2) Exhibition (0-2)
- Idle this week. Not good considering they're on the bubble. Need exposure for to be selected by the "selection committee". Gulf Islands is up next week. Doubtful if that will be a good enough indication of whether they should get into playoffs.

17. (17) Seaquam Seahawks (0-2) Exhibition (1-2)
- Good showing vs Sands, but this simply isn't the Seahawks year. They will definitely be on the bubble for the "selection committee" regardless of whether they win next week vs Nanaimo.

18. (18) Gulf Islands Scorpions (0-2) Exhibition (1-1)
- Scored vs Sentinel this week. Host Moscrop next week to end the season. Looking forward to next season.

19. (19) Nanaimo District Islanders (0-2) Exhibition (1-3)
- Rolled by Boyd as expected. A winnable game vs Seaquam next week.

20. (20) North Surrey Spartans (0-3) Exhibition (0-2)
- Suppose to be a Bye week this week but an exhibition game with Terry Fox was apparently arranged. Still, the Spartans are winless with no chance at playoffs.

21. (21) Mark Isfield Ice (0-4) Exhibition (0-2)
- Lost to Hurt, expect the same result vs Mission next week. Tough way to end the season without a single win.

22. (22) Howe Sound Sounders (0-2) Exhibition (0-1)
- Ballenas loss ends the season for the Sounders, looking towards a better year next season.

23. (23) Aldergrove Totems (0-2) Exhibition (0-1)
- Totems having a very rough season, lost to #7 Boyd, #8 Mission, #5 Barsby this week and #3 Sands next week.

24. (24) Quesnel/Correlieu Cougars (0-0)
- Folded, should've expected as much.

25. (18) Kalamalka (0-0)
- Team has folded, not enough numbers. Some players have transfered to Fulton.

26. (25) Norkam Saints (0-0)
- Pundits were right, Norkam folds

True Aldergrove has had a hard schedule but they have some talent on that team. The qb has a big time arm and they have some good receivers. They could definetly be more competitive than their record if the coaching was better. They need a lot of help in that dept.

I realize you do not go to all the games but you cannot judge how all teams played by the final score. Seaquam had one first down the entire game against Sands. The conditions of the field was really bad but one first down in a game does not constitute a good showing.

By all accounts it was close through the first half between Sands/Seaquam.

Seaquam is definitely on the bubble, the "selection committee" has a tough decision to make on whether they are in or out.

By all accounts they still had no first downs in the first half. Just because Sands kept shooting themselves in the foot does not mean it was close.

uhmm..it says some teams are 4-0 in regular season when theyve only played 2 league games..might wanna fix that.

There is no way Hugh Boyd should be ranked in the top 4 if they beat Barsby!

If boyd beats barsby I say they move to number 6 ballenas to number 5 and barsby to 7
