Fanatic's BCHSFA Season Proposal

Big Brother, hope you're reading this...

With all this talk going around of a 16 team playoff and a "selection committee" meeting to rank the teams, I thought I would take the guesswork out of it all and propose the Fanatic Bracket.

AAA Pre-Strike Rankings by Conference
AA Pre-Strike Rankings by Conference

So what I've done is rank each team in it's respective Conference. Generally, each conference will have matchups as follows,

1. #1 vs #2, to determine #1 and #2 seeds
2. #3 vs #6, winner to play winner of #4 vs #5
3. #4 vs #5, winner to play winner of #3 vs #6
4. W2 vs W3, to determine #3 and #4 seeds

#1 and #2 teams will only play 1 game before playoffs which are still scheduled for weekend of Nov 12 (no teams will have bye weeks for playoffs #1 through #16 will all play). #3, #4, #5, #6 teams will play 2 games to get into playoffs. All higher seeds get home field in all games.

This is the fairest way to accomodate all teams as almost all teams have a chance to make it to the post-season. #1 seeds will have the easiest playoff schedules yet they still have to earn the right to be the #1 seed. Games 2 and 3 should be played on Tue Nov 1, Games 1 and 4 should be played on Fri/Sat Nov 5/6 respectively.

In some cases, there could be forfeit. Cowichan vs Fox could be a forfeit if Cowichan does not decide to travel to the Mainland to play Fox.

Exceptions:

- Since the Western Conference is the strongest Conference, there will be a AAA Wildcard game for the losing teams in the Western Conference. The losers of Games 1 and 2 should play each other on Sat Nov 6 to determine the Wildcard seed.
- in AAA OK Conference, only 3 teams will make the playoffs. So the games are different than above. #1 vs #4, #2 vs #3, winners play for #1 seed, losers play to get into playoffs.
- in AA OK conference, all 4 teams play 2 games to determine seeding. #1 vs #4, #2 vs #3, winners play to determine #1 and #2 seeds, losers play to determine #3 and #4 seeds.
- in AA Georgia Strait Conference, Mark Isfield is the odd team in last place, they will need to find some exhibition games otherwise their season is over.
- in AAA OK conference, Rutland is odd team in last place, they will need to find some exhibition games otherwise their season is over.

If the games on Tue Nov 1 are unable to be played and Fri Nov 5 is the soonest we can start, then Games 2 and 3 could be ignored. It would be simply #1 vs #2 and #3 vs #4 to determine seeding. Carson and Handsworth would play for wildcard in AAA, Mt Boucherie would play Kelowna for #3 in AAA OK, and the rest of the #5 and #6 teams could play each other to complete their seasons. Although unfair to the #5 and #6 teams, reality is they would probably not make playoffs anyway if the games above are played.
