Nanaimo Islanders vs Sands Scorpions

Fri, Sep 30 at 3:45P, Sands, Delta

The Fanatic spread line:

Nanaimo+42 at Sands-42 O/U 42

Final Score 49-0 for Sands. Despite a 4-1 record overall, the "recruiting" rumor/story continues to overshadow this team everytime the name "Sands" is mentioned. The rumored "ineligible players" apparently still played tonight, although probably wouldn't have made a difference in this one. A much better team in Hugh Boyd is up next for Sands. Nanaimo looking for another beat down by Barsby next week.

Was expecting more out of Sands win over a mediocre at best AAA Carson team. May have been coming off letdown of losing to Windsor week before. A win over Nanaimo should be an easy confidence builder. Nanaimo looking for respect here, not likely to find it, maybe next week.

k...you guys are tards...they werent suspended...its the stupid eligibilty shit..and for the guy saying it was probably ND or w/e..its kinda obvious you go to sands..because we ( yes i go to sands ) were all talking about it today at practice..they will be ok to play by gametime and even if they arent..we still have enough depth to take Nanaimo and Boyd.

Just to set the record straight, NDSS has nothing to do with any question of the eligibilty (or lack there of) of any of Sands players. In fact this is the first we've heard of this!! Sands is an excellent football team and we look forward to playing them. We're certain they will play hard and tough regardless of who is eligible. We'll see you Friday.

    49-0 sands
    pretty much what was expected..
sands had them pinned down in thier end pretty much the whole game and it was a cake walk for them..nanaimo moved the ball once for a decent drive with a few passes..sands got them selves back from the poor performences against windsor and carson..and the 4 players that were supposably not allowed to play..played.

  • At 10:10 PM, September 30, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

The 4 sands players are being reviewed after they play hugh boyd.
one of the 3 did not play today and was on crutches..he was the big guy..

You guys from Sands better be careful. I hope you're not dealing with BC Football, they told Timberline that kid was eligible to play then it came time for playoffs and BCSS said he wasn't after he played all year and Timberline was kicked out of the playoffs. Politics SUCK!

  • At 9:51 AM, October 01, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

if the Sands kids are declared ineligible, will Nanaimo get a default win?

    no

  • At 12:16 PM, October 01, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

k everyone should shut up because the players are eligible to lay until the reviewing process is over most likley they will be suspended fomr playing after week two ..and besides sands would beat nanaimo and hugh boyd with or without them sands best players wernt even under review (there QB there free saftey\wide reviever and there tailback so just leave this whole thing alone. sands wont win playoffs anyways bc football will do there job

  • At 12:36 PM, October 01, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

lol thier safety sucks..i dont kno why all u guys think hes so good..and they probably wont get suspended anyways..they are eligible because the school they used to go to doesnt have senior football..

  • At 12:36 PM, October 01, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Yup, GUARANTEED--They'll screw Sands just like they screwed Timberline! If you're saying that kids transfered from a school with no football program, they'll tell you the kids can play then BCSS will make you forfeit any game that they played it THAT is EXACTLY what happened to Timberline. Timberline had it in writing from BC Highschool football that the kid could play then BCSS made them forfeit the whole regular season. DON'T trust BC Highschool Football they don't have the final authority to approve players like that only BCSS can.

hmmm interesting...were the kids at timberline actually eligible or were they not? because according to all the rules..the kids at sands are doing nothing wrong..techniqly.

The Kid (only 1)WAS eligible according to BC highschool football. He transfered from the other HS in Campbell River, it does NOT have a football program. The School had a letter from BC HS Football saying he was ok to play BUT they do not have the authority to ok it, it HAS to come from BCSS. Otherwise kiss your shot at the playoffs goodbye!

the timberline and sands situations are different. the bc high school people gave timberline the ok. later the bc football assocation stated that they had the final say so, and that's the way it stayed. the sands situation is different in the way that the problem is illegable players(not living in sands area)are using false addresses to attend the school and to play. i know of 2 players that said they were doing this. frankly i was suprised they told their friends. aways that is what they said.who knows waht is really going on?

  • At 11:16 PM, October 02, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

I thought that you could go to any school you want to that there is no longer catchment areas. If you show up at a school you can go there, they can't turn anyone away if there is room at the school.

  • At 7:44 AM, October 03, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

actually according to my coach they still exist. we were all screened to make sure we all lived in the catchment area or attended the last semester of grade 10 there to be elligable. this is what we were told.

  • At 1:55 PM, October 03, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

You guys have no idea what is going on. The kids who are contesting eligibility went to Burnsview and Delview, two junior highs in North Delta. The district decided that they were going to let kids from any of the four catchment areas that used to feed into ND (Sands, Burnsview, Delview) go to any of the four schools that are all now 8-12 schools and be eligible in any sport. The district did not get the ok soon enough or something of that nature from BC High School Sports and that is where the problem is. The kids appealed their eligibility were granted reinstatement for the next two weeks until a final decision will be made at a hearing. Honestly, don't speak on something unless you know what is really going on.

How about all the kids who still live in Surrey but attend Sands. That is where they "technically" are doing something wrong = faking out admin and BC Highschool Football. Nice work .

Why do you want to get Sands banned so bad anywayz?

  • At 6:43 PM, October 03, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

because right or wrong we all have to follow the same rules. If sands is allowed to do what is under reveiw next year it will be a free for all and the rule book is out the window.i have nothing against sands i am sure it is a great school (if school can be great).

  • At 9:00 PM, October 03, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

They (coaches) have cheated thus far in putting together a stacked team. The players who have made the decission to "MOVE" to Sands are just as much cheaters as the coaches. Coach U apparently has done this for each team he has coached for but never been caught or never been reviewed. I am sure there are people complaining out there about a 1st year team coming out of nowhere and being so stacked. Its like they have put out the welcome mat to come and speculate and see if they are breaking rules. It would have been different if they were around for a few years before they actually became a force. COME ON ! Why else do people want them gone. Put a team together legitimately and see how they compete after hard work to build a program, not recruit every kid that is eligible or not to play.

SANDS - WELCOME TO THE MICROSCOPE

  • At 9:46 PM, October 03, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Dont the people complaining about Sands got anything better to do?

  • At 10:14 PM, October 03, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

No they don't. They are too busy complaining while Sands prepares to beat Boyd next week. Keep complaining idiots, no one cares what you say on the internet. Get a life. For the adults who come and post on this board, hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

  • At 6:21 PM, October 04, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

lol i agree...to any adults on here..hahahhahaha..just cuz u all scared to play sands dont mean all u guys can bitch about it..we lost to them and they played a fair game..no dirty moves or anything..they played with more respect and more class then all u other teams..so shut up..take it like men or take it like little school girls all that matters is the score at the end of the game..so suck it up

  • At 10:04 PM, October 04, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

why give respect to a program that cheats?

  • At 10:18 PM, October 05, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

at least the "pussy moaners" play by a fair set of rules established for everyone to play football

  • At 5:09 PM, October 06, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said…

they all play fair on the field..and every school has some sort of recruitment..not saying sands is guilty but look around guys...open ur eyes to the top teams in both AA and AAA football..u think some of those kids dont live in the cachement..just stop complaining..they are being re-evaluated anyways so stop bitching for the moment at least..
