GP Vanier Towhees vs Mission Roadrunners

Sat, Oct 1 at 1:30P, Mission Secondary, Mission

The Fanatic spread line:

Vanier-3 at Mission+3 O/U 35

Final Score 21-10 for Mission. Not sure if McAllister is back but an impressive win nonetheless. As anticipated, a close battle between conference rivals with playoff implications. With the win, Mission is almost guaranteed a playoff spot. A win over Frank Hurt next week will allow them to face a #2 seed instead of a #1 seed. Vanier will now have to beat Frank Hurt in order to have a shot at a playoff spot.

The Towhees (1-1) in the regular season face the Roadrunners (1-0) in the regular season for the AA game of the week. This is a marquee matchup of the season for both teams, Vanier currently ranked #8 and Mission #9. Will be a TSN turning point in both their seasons. Vanier is the better team, but Mission cannot be underestimated here. The Georgia Strait Conference is the most competitive in AA with 5 of the top 10 teams coming from this conference. Lord Tweedsmuir and Mt Doug have clearly established #1 and #2, Vanier, Mission, Frank Hurt all battle for #3. At the end of the regular season, the loser of this game will look back at this game and say that was the key game we needed to win.

Vanier Offense: The Towhees have taken a little longer to get into sync than expected. After a 43-0 rout over Nanaimo, the Towhees have scored 27 pts in their next 3 games. WR Eli Hilberry and QB Thyssen DeGoede lead a talented QB/receiving core with an offense that isn't afraid to go for the big one. Need to develop the run to balance out the scoring attack and to keep defenses honest.

Mission Defense: With more expererience for the 2005 campaign, the Roadrunners have made significant strides so far this season and the results are in the numbers. Defense is all about hustle, and the Roadrunners have plenty of hustle to go around this season.

Mission Offense: Contrasting styles of offense as Mission uses a more traditional running game. Despite not having the services of returning Senior RB Eddy McAllister for the first 3 games, the Roadrunners have made due with RB David Minor. Without McAllister, it Will be difficult to put together a win here.

Vanier Defense: Aggressive defense that loves to hit. Has done a decent job so far. Limited a good Mt Doug Offense to 27 points. Veteran D-line and depth at LB is good enough to get it done.
