The South Kamploops Titans easily won the Okanagan Conference last year, flatening all their division opponents by a combined score of 122-12 in 4 games. Their toughest challenge was a hard-fought 16-6 win over MBSS. The playoffs were a different story. After earning a bye, the Titans were humbled by Vancouver College 34-15 in the Quarterfinals. The Titans were led offensively by QB Chris Kleven, FB Chris Vermette, RB Brandon Delyzer, and WR Jesse Faubert. Defensive leaders included DT Thomas Graham, DE Ben Johnson, LB Darryl Schack, and DB Jason Obayashi.

For 05/06, the Titans graduate the core of the offense and defense from last year, players leaving include all of QB/S Chris Kleven, FB/LB Chris Vermette, RB/DB Brandon Delyzer, WR/DB Jesse Faubert, RB/DE Ben Johnson, FB/DT Thomas Graham, G/LB Darryl Schack, and R/DB Jason Obayashi among others. As a result, the Titans will bring up several key players from last year's JV team that narrowly missed the playoffs in the 1 playoff berth Interior Conference. Some of the key players will include QB/LB Ian Wilcox, RB/LB Mike Lukow and T/LB Mitch Day.

Repeating as Conference Champions will not be quite as easy as it was last year. The 04/05 team that went undefeated in the regular season had played Varsity together for a number of years, the 05/06 team will be made up of a talented but young rookie squad, expect some growing pains along the way. The Titans start the 05/06 season with an ambitious yet challenging pre-season schedule, Handsworth, Pinetree, and New West. I don't expect the Titans to win any of those games, but that will have little impact on their regular season performance. The top 3 teams in the Okanagan Conference, MBSS, Rutland, and the Titans are all closely matched. The Titans could be as good as 4-0 or as bad as 1-3. Come playoff time, only the top 2 teams advance, and the Titans could be on the outside looking in. The Titans football program is well run and does an excellent job of developing the young players before they reach the Varsity level. No matter how well the Titans do this year, the Titans will definitely be a team to watch out for next year.

Prognosis: 2-2 (Could win more, but we'll see)
Key Games: Week 5: SK vs MBSS; Week 6, Rutland vs SK
Top Offensive Players: QB Ian Wilcox, RB Mike Lukow
Top Defensive Players: LB Ian Wilcox, LB Mike Lukow, LB Mitch Day

One major coaching change is the retirement of veteran Brian Olthuis after thirty five years on the field however he has agreed to remain with the program in combination with his new found retirement activities. Jeff Willett and Dean MacDonald will continue to co-ordinate the Off. and Def. respectively with Willett taking over Coach O'S day admin duties.
