The MBSS Bears marked their 2nd season ever and first in AAA with a bang with pre-season victories vs KSS and Salmon Arm to go 2-0. For the regular season, the Bears played South Kamloops tough and lost a close 16-6 game. In the final game of the season with a Playoff berth on the line, the Bears lost a heartbreaker to Rutland 26-28. The Bears were a talented team on both sides of the ball with several players named as All-Stars including Defensive MVP LB Mike Swityck, DL Kevin Wiebe, and DB Paul Spencer. Offensive All-stars included RB Kyle Richard, and TE Andrew Gauld.

The Bears graduate a number of key players including QB Price, RB Richard, and WR Pennich on offense. Similar story on Defense where LB Swityck, and DB Spencer have graduated. Also, 350 pound All-Star DT/OL Vlad Grecu has decided to move to Ohio to play out his Senior year, his presence will definitely be missed. However, the majority of players in the key positions will be back for 05/06. The offense will be led by 2nd year player and last year's backup QB Andrew Majoris who had a solid showing at the SFU camp this summer. RB Alex Harper, also in his 2nd year on the team, will get most of the carries on the ground. On defense, Div 1 prospect and All-Star LT/DT Colin Kruger is back to man the defense. Kruger was named the top lineman at the Washington O and D camp this summer with several top Div 1 teams showing interest. Along with Kruger, LB/C Daniel Mendes is back again for the defense in his Senior year with the Bears. The Bears were a young team last year, and many of those rookies are returning this year as grizzled veterans. This Bears are stocked on size, which should provide plenty of room for Harper to run and time for Majoris to throw. The Bears do not have a JV program but a couple of new players to watch include OL/DL Charles Wilson and FB Nolan Hyde.

The Bears of 04/05 were the "Bad luck Bears", with close losses to South Kamloops and Rutland. This year, the Bears are ready to contend for top spot in the Okanagan Conference. The Bears will have 2 chances to avenge their season ending loss to Rutland in Weeks 2 and 4. Should they win in Week 4, they will roll into an equally big matchup in Week 5 vs South Kamloops. With the experience and talent the Bears return, they are the pre-season favorites for tops in the Okanagan. The Bears are poised to finish in the top 2 and go to the playoffs for the first time in it's 2 year history.

A coaching update of note, OL coach Hugh Alexander has left to become the Vice Principal at Rutland.

Prognosis: 4-0 (Could be ranked this year)
Key Games: Week 2, Rutland vs MB; Week 4, MB vs Rutland; Week 5, SK vs MB
Top Offensive Players: QB Andrew Majoris, RB Alex Harper
Top Defensive Players: LT/DT Colin Kruger, LB/C Daniel Mendes
