The Handsworth Royals won the Western Division last year going a perfect 5-0 in the regular season. After an impressive win over a dangerous Centennial team in the Quarterfinals, the Royals hit a wall called the Rick Hansen Hurricanes in the Semifinals. The Royals had a great year in all categories of offense and defense and were consistent in their great play all year. Offensive contributions came from QB Sam Wilson, a talented receiving core of WRs Brett Lunner, Bruce Bowman, Travis Leskewitch, Danny Hatch, and RB Dustyn Harvey. All would be leaders in their respective categories in passing, receiving, and rushing. The Defensive leaders of the team were G/LB Taylor Epp and T/DT Dustin Miles. Both were leaders in the league in the tackles category. Overall, the Royals were the most balanced team in all of AAA, this considering that the Royals only moved up from AA to AAA last year.

The Royals graduate most of the offensive and defensive leaders from last year's team. The key returning player will be RB/S Dustyn Harvey. Harvey was a key member of the offense and will be the leader for 05/06. Rookies will make up a majority of the 05/06 team. The JV team went 4-2 last year before losing in a romp vs JV Champions STM. Leading the JV team last year were QB/CB Jonathan Roney, RB/CB Dustin Holmes, WR Tommy Knowles and G/LB Jared Winslow.

With so many graduating players, the Royals will not repeat as Divisional champs, that title belongs to Vancouver College this year. Harvey will be a force again this year as long as the rookie O-line can stand their ground and make blocks. Of the 3 teams contending for 2nd and 3rd in the West this year, the Royals probably sit 3rd on the depth chart. But the margin between all 3 teams is very narrow. Ultimately, the Royals will look to gain some valuable experience for their young team and hope to make a run next year.

Prognosis: 2-3 (Slightly edged by ND and Timberline at the moment)
Key Games: Week 4, ND vs Handsworth; Week 6, Handsworth vs Timberline
Top Offensive Players: RB/S Dustyn Harvey, QB/CB Jonathan Roney, RB/CB Dustin Holmes
Top Defensive Players: G/LB Jared Winslow, T/DT John Snelling
