St. Thomas More Collegiate Knights vs Centennial Centuars

Fri, Oct. 7 at 3:45, Centennial Sec, Coquitlam

The Fanatic spread line:

STM+10 at Cent-10 O/U 56

Was tough to pick just one game as there were some great matchups with major playoff implications. But the biggest of all of them is the battle of Conference rivals STM and Centennial. Players involved should be very familiar with each other as many players are products of Coquitlam Minor Football. The significance of this game cannot be underestimated as the outcome of this game determines #1 seed in the Central Conference, and therefor a 1 week bye for the playoffs. The stakes could not be any higher for the regular season.

STM had 1 week off before their School Field Trip against Cowichan last week. The Knights have yet to face any real competition since beating Notre Dame 1 month ago. Hope the extra practice time was used well to prepare for this game. Centennial comes into the game having dominated both Hansen and Pinetree following a big win over highly ranked Cochrane of Alberta. All engines are firing for the Centaurs as they prepare for this weeks big game.

STM Offense: RB Samson Carino has carried the load offensively so far for the Knights, Junior RB Desmond Singh has had limited success backing up Carino. The Knights have had succes in the air as well led by QB Jordan Schletgen. The O-Line is big and strong enough to negate Centennial's D-Line. The key for a STM win will be time of possession, need to control the game and clock.

Cent Defense: Run defense has been solid. Here's a hint for STM, run it away from LB Bruce Anderson and DE Paul Samra. Big Bruce eats RBs and QBs for breakfast. Samra is a beast, big, tall, and intimidating. Both should make a great college players. Pass coverage on the short routes and slants are a problem.

Cent Offense: It's all about the speed, and speed kills. Centennial has the fastest backfield in AAA featuring QB Quincy Hurst, RB Zack Denton, and R/RB AJ Miko. Add FB Bruce Anderson and it's lights out trying to stop this foursome. If the O-Line can hold, there's no stopping them.

STM Defense: LB Desmond Singh and Nathan Pratrap anchor a solid Linebacking core. The D-Line has decent speed and size. Pass coverage is average. Bottom line is that STM doesn't have enough team speed on Defense to stop Cent, that's why they need to control the clock.
