Pepsi All-Stars Selections
Ever wonder how the All-Stars are chosen?? What is the criteria to be selected by the "selection committee"?? Don't know?? Well, I don't know either. If anyone can enlighten us, that would really be good. Below is an excerpt of an email I received,
Last year was my first year in BC Highschool Football, I came in from out of province.
At the end of the season I had very good "stats" and played at BC Place.
I emailed BC Highschool Football to see exactly how they choose the players to receive awards. I asked them very pointed questions, such as:
1. were the winners chosen from the top teams, no some were not on top teams
2. were the winners the ones who accumulated the highest stats in their position, no, I believe the 4th highest rusher was chosen.
3. were the winners all seniors, no, some were juniors.
I never received a response from anyone as to what criteria they used to choose the award winners.
I find it a shame that because of the "interruption" in the season that a lot of the better player were not able to accumulate a full season of stats.
So Big Brother, what is the criteria?? Let the truth be told, we have a right to know...

yah I was not happy with the receivers chosen last year, I got about 100 yards more receiving then then the two kids who made it. Als ray Wladichuk from vernon should have made pronvincial allstar, he had 700 yards in 6-7 games. thats nuts, I know he was god to casue when we played vernon he was incredible. Also justin andrushko had 1800 yards last season and was not picked as an all-star, If you ask me there was a couple players that should have made it and a couple players that shouldn't have.

The selection of the conference and Pepsi All-Star teams is all potitics. Its not about who is the best. My coach told me last year that it is kinda stupid how it is done. for example:
if John Doe of Mead high school wants his RB on the team and Jason Smith from washington high wants his RB and his Recieve on the team. (Washington high has the best RB in this example) they will do trades in a sense. John Doe will say you can have your reciever and another spot on the team if my RB makes the team.
So you could easily see how the best playes get over shadowed and some people we dont even know get the spots.
Im aware this is a very poor example but it is all I could think of at the moment

Sports Fanatic you should post who you think should be on the Pepsi All Star team and maybe it would have an influense on their decision.

My opinion:
Offensive MVP - Jordan Willetts, Justin Andurhsko or Gabe Ephard
QB - Jordan Willetts
QB - between Sentinel and Vanier
WR - 84 Sentinel
WR - ??
RB - Gabe Ephard
RB - Bates, Andrushko
Other people post to see what you think

yes
For Defense I would like to nominate my teammates
Jake Farely (could make it as D-line or Offensive centre)
Chad Cowan - LB
Jesse Niles - LB
all 3 of them i think are good enough to make the team.

Speaking of players being underestimated, could someone please tell me why Vince Watson never gets an grace? I mean he is currently the leading rusher in BC AA ball, and from what I hear he doesn't have the best blocking ( just gossip I've heard no offense to his team, not my personal opinion) so if in fact he doesn't have the best blocking like Gabe, or Andrushko, and he hes leading should not some of his abilities be recongized.. I don't want to sound uptight, disagreeable, or start a arugment on this posting area, but is it not hypacritical to say that it's a joke for the Pepsi-All Star selections to be political, when in fact an fanominal athlete like Vince Watson recieves no recognition because he's in the interior, and on a so far losing team? Or is there another reason; I'd be interested to know if anyone has an answer to this question. Or have I missed something along the line here?

not sure how the pepsi allstars are chosen, but i know they choose the confrence allstars very stupidly. i think the pepsi allstars are chosen from the confrence, and its all very political and most coaches are more concerned about making there own programs look good, instead of recognizing the top athletes

the sentinel QB is terrible. if youve seen him play and not just his stats youd know that hemakes terrible decisions and his recievers just make huge plays on like a slant pattern for a 70 yrd td. dont believe me? watch the ballenasvs sentinel tape

Do they have an all-star spot for every position? Like all the types of recievers?
WR, SB, TE??

How many yards does He have? Because if you look you will see that Andrushko and Gabes stats are not posted up to date on the site... to say he is the leading rusher is not right untill you have all the info

its casue watsons a tool, and hes not as good as bates, ephard and andrusko, yards are nothing, anyone can get yards, shit if you give someone the ball 30 tmies a agame there gonna learn wheer to run, it isn;t that hard. what matters is yards a carry.

i say andrushko's infront right now followed closely by gabe, then bates and trautman.. given how the playoffs go i think trautman will step it up and pass bates for sure.
4 very good backs, hard to say though.. stats aren't everything but right now they're the only thing determining the ranks amongst these running backs
any thoughts?.. that don't involve bashing of players or teams or people's opinions lol..
